Harriet Reuter Hapgood was a teacher and author who published a series of books for young readers beginning in 1909. In addition to the twelve books she wrote, she produced a number of volumes written under the pseudonyms Peter Parley and Peter Parley's Cat for children. Hapgood is best known for her books about animal life, particularly cats. Her works include The Story of John Bull and Other Stories, The Story of Peter Parley, The Story of a Feline Cat, and The Story of a Family Cat.
